We use our talent to improve the quality of life for those who need oxygen.
History

Beginning of a Vital Mission
The story of OXFO began amidst the COVID-19 pandemic in Boston, where Fernando and Brent found their clinic empty and the healthcare system focused on handling the emergency. They decided to find a way to contribute significantly. It was then that they discovered the critical shortage of ventilators and oxygen supplies, leading them to question how oxygen was being administered to patients and seek alternatives

Innovation Inspired by Need
Determined to solve the inefficiencies in continuous flow systems, they designed a prototype that could store oxygen at ambient conditions, allowing patients to access it naturally. This prototype focused on aligning oxygen delivery with the human respiratory process, which requires oxygen primarily during inhalation, and given the logistical and mobility constraints of the time, they adapted the garage of Fernando's house as an experimental workshop like so many famous ventures today.

Growth in an Innovative Ecosystem
Looking for a more cost-effective environment to develop their prototype, the doctors found a supportive team in Medellín, Colombia, a city known for its innovation ecosystem, with whom they worked to develop and test their device, going through the full cycle from initial design, continued prototyping, and adjustments to pass rigorous testing, all the way to INVIMA certification.

Overcoming Challenges and Improving Design
Despite hard work, the initial response was less favorable than expected, but the OXFO team did not give up. They returned to the drawing board, improving the device using feedback from doctors and therapists. After months of dedication, they perfected the design to meet market expectations and ensure an excellent way to deliver value to patients.

Global Validation and Acceptance
The project was presented to several clinical associations and institutions in Colombia, LATAM and the USA. Fully certified and backed by clinical studies, the device has received positive feedback from outpatients, pulmonologists and respiratory therapists and the medical community in general, who identified a huge potential to improve the quality of life of those who require oxygen on a constant basis. The receptiveness of the medical community has been an added source of joy for the entire team and in a way starts the snowball rolling.

Transforming the Future of Respiratory Therapy
For Fernando, Brent, and their team, creating OXFO has been incredibly rewarding. They are confident that their innovation will transform the lives of patients, their families, and caregivers, revolutionizing respiratory therapy worldwide. OXFO represents a sustainable and efficient solution, aligned with the higher purpose of transforming on-demand oxygen delivery and eliminating waste, bringing hope and improving care for many.
